Top Things to do in Vanuatu

Alas, the winter travel season is upon us. This is the time of year when we are all looking to get away and take a break from the rigors of everyday life and to step into some nicer weather. Fortunately, this is also the time of year when affordable travel deals can be had. For example, Vanuatu is a lush and tropical environment that is only hop, skip, and jump away. This South Pacific country has incredibly affordable rates, in fact, Sydney to Vanuatu flights are always a great deal. While you may not be overly familiar with Vanuatu, I assure you there are plenty of fun and interesting activities for families there. On a side note, please remember to bring some money with you to pay for transportation to and from the airports. If you bank locally with ANZ or Westpac rest assured they have locations in Port Vila for your convenience.

If you don’t mind rolling up your sleeves and getting some exercise, then you should consider checking out the Millenium Cave. It’s said that ancestors used to be fearful of entering the caves due to the many spirits that reside within there.

Mount Yasur is probably the most intimate, and active, volcano’s in the world. You can walk to the very brim of this volcano and stare down through the mouth into the abyss. Doesn’t that sound exciting?

Now, if you’re more like me, then you might prefer the calm serenity of a white sandy beach. Champagne Beach in Espiritu Santo. From white sand to turquoise water it is a beautiful and picturesque location. You can lazily swing in a hammock between the gentle sway of palm trees, or enjoy some light snorkeling and see the many species of tropical fish.

If you venture over to Port Vila make sure to try out Eden of the River! There are many fun activities to partake in here. There are fabulous rock pools to swim in, fun river rapids for tubing, and lovely flora and fruits for eating. There are some fun man made activities as well. Outdoor eateries within quaint huts and even mini zip lining!

Since you are already in Port Vila you should also stop in the Vanuatu Cultural Center. The center is home to some many interesting artifacts of great historical significance. There is plenty of indigenous knowledge to learn and fun things like sand drawings and music.
